We want to champion success for Black girls and women!

We want to reduce barriers and provide additional support to ensure success!

Our Vision
For each of us to have enough

Our Mission
To support projects that build confidence, capacity and opportunity for Black girls and women

The Nia Project will work to change the perception, outcomes and norms for Black girls and women in our community and in our country.
The Nia Project will:
  • Raise awareness and financial support of organizations and individuals doing impactful work that benefit girls and women, especially those where traditional support may be difficult through grants, internships and special initiative funding.
  • Create and support Black girl/women focused programming and services.
  • Black Women Get Fit - The Ultimate Day Party - hosted annually since 2018
  • Host an annual Nia Project that brings the community together to accomplish a community work.
  • Sponsor the creation of a quality of life report for Black girls/women in Kansas City - with a goal of connecting and leveraging data and initiatives across the country.

Our name is a nod to the 5th principle of Kwanzaa, Nia, which means Purpose. Through Nia, we strive to make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community, with a laser focus on girls & women.
