Show Me The Money! We will raise money and awareness to support 501c3 organizations, and individuals doing impactful work that benefit girls and women, especially those where traditional support may be difficult through grants, scholarships, internships, and special initiative funding.
Recently, I heard someone say, if you want to know how much they care about you, ask them to show you their budget. The budget is a reflection of their priorities. Back in 1999, when we launched our first nonprofit, Trace's Place - A Community Organization for Black Girls and Women, we were told that there was little to no money available for preventive programming, and that the available funds had to be dedicated to safety net programs. I'm not sure much has changed, but anxious to start this work and share what we learn along the way.
" The findings reveal that the total philanthropic giving to women and girls of color is just $5.48 per year in the United States, accounting for just 0.5% of the $66.9 billion given by foundations."
